design letter

SKF wanted to introduce a measuring instrument with the TKSA41 , with which bearing systems can be better aligned. Before Scope Design could start with the design, the user 's needs had to be mapped out first.

The approach of the project

Scope Design has used the VBL tool in this project to get input from the various international SKF branches . VBL stands for Visual Brand Language and is a methodology developed by Scope Design. In this way the goals were set for the desired brand identity and image of the new Alignment Tool with broad support within the SKF organization. Research into the precursor of the TKSA41 made much clear about current use. By watching them in practice with mechanics, the user experience could be neat closely mapped. This also made the requirements and wishes for users concrete.

THE DESIGN RESULT

It was then a challenge to find a balance between the requirements of users and the desired development in brand identity and image of SKF. It resulted in a new design, in particular, the ergonomics is improved in a number of points, such as the display with touch screen ieve IT intuitive navigation. The display can be connected wirelessly to the measuring units and read both portrait and landscape. I nnovatieve features improve the alignment performance TKSA41.

The SKF TKSA41 Scope Design has won a Red Dot Honorable Mention.
